One of our biggest concerns we have when it comes to Promoting the Joys of Reading is reaching our target customers. Since our current area of operation in Kochi, we sat down again to discuss on how effectively to reach our main customers; the youth in Kochi.
This one is more difficult than working with the elderly (who love our service since they don’t have worry about travelling to get their books) or the younger children (who are again easy to access at points of schools and other institutions). The reason we decided to work with the youth, mostly in the college going group and the working group is simple; this is the time when they tend to lose touch with the reading habit although there are many who say, “I used to read but now…”
Now how to reach them? We need a forum. There are plenty if you think of hangout places where we can give our fliers etc. But that won’t solve the problem of reaching the Larger Crowd.
Enter KochiVibe! The more we thought about it, the more it made sense for us. So we called the powers that be in this very active and popular lifestyle magazine and poured our heart out… well, in less than 200 words but they got the gist; we knew they were very busy folks down there and we kept it short.
Sid was extremely supportive and said yes immediately. Even after repeated offers and options from our side for providing financial remuneration for the support KochiVibe would be providing us he brushed it off saying, “I am a very passionate reader. I love books and this is one cause I would love to support your organization and library with.” He gave us a dedicated Book Review Section in KochiVibe and we were good to go!
Here are the articles that have come online so far on KochiVibe on The Readers’ Web and it’s Book reviews:
- Chapter One
- Book Review: Anything for You Ma’am
- Book Review: The Immortals of Meluha (Complete with a video trailer and excerpts from the book)
